Ferrucci out of Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto after crash in morning warmup

Santino Ferrucci will not race in the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto following a crash during Sunday morning’s warmup session.

Canadian Corey Conners is in position to lock up another top-10 finish at a major tournament.

The Listowel, Ont., native shot a 5-under 66 to finish out the Open Championship on Sunday, making five birdies on the back nine at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland.

Conners shot an identical score on Saturday to surge up the leaderboard after making the cut on the number.

The last time a Canadian male had at least two major top-10 finishes in a calendar year was Mike Weir in 2006. Conners also finished eighth at The Masters in April.

Scottie Scheffler entered the final round with a four-shot lead as he looks to capture his fourth victory at a major tournament. If he holds on to win the Open Championship, he would need a victory at the U.S. Open to finish the career grand slam.

Conners, who is Canada’s top-ranked male golfer, has been a consistent presence on major championship leaderboards through 2025. He is one of just 18 golfers to make the cut at all four majors this year and notched a top-10 finish at the Masters. He was trending towards another solid result at the U.S. Open before being forced to withdraw due to a wrist injury.

Conners told Sportsnet before this week at the Open that he felt things were “back to normal” with his wrist and said on Friday after his round that he was “striking the ball well” despite admitting he had struggled in his career to this point with adjusting to the firmness of links turf.
